Our first destination is all about the coast, the moana and learning through adventure, as families explore the unique Nelson-Tasman region and Abel Tasman National Park. Through coastal walks, kayaking, beach and marine exploration, families will discover native forests, wildlife, marine ecosystems, geology and conservation. Abel Tasman Education Boxes will support hands-on learning, with activities that encourage observation, investigation and understanding of the natural environment. A highlight will be a group Waka Ama experience, where families develop paddling, water-safety, teamwork, communication and leadership skills while working together on the water. 

From Punakaiki to Fox Glacier, the South Island's West Coast has a lot to offer in terms of raw beauty, unique culture, and geological significance! Explore the wild West Coast through hands-on adventures, local stories and knowledge, discovering its forests, rivers, caves and glaciers while learning practical skills through kayaking, hiking, bushcraft and creative activities. It’s an opportunity for children to build curiosity, confidence and a deeper connection with the natural world. 

Leaving behind the lush West Coast, we head inland into the Alpine Lakes and Otago region. We’ll travel from the mountains of Wānaka to the coast of Dunedin and observing the changing landscape, climate and geology along the way. Families will explore alpine environments, lakes, rivers and valleys, building on their understanding of New Zealand’s unique geological story through hands-on environmental activities focused on freshwater studies and experiences such as Puzzling World, where problem-solving comes to life. As we reach Dunedin, we’ll explore its distinctive architecture, coastline and rich wildlife, with opportunities to encounter seals, seabirds and other marine life. Completing our journey from sea to sea, from the coastal landscapes of Abel Tasman to the wild Otago coastline, this final leg completes our journey together.

Each day with Woven Worlds will differ based on where we are and what there is to do, but there is an underlying structure that aims to give us a rounded experience so that we can travel well together, build friendships, make the most of the learning opportunities along the way, and have the most fun and fulfilling experience.

Each week we aim to fill with a balance of the following:

• Activities and experiences booked in with local operators;

• Expert guest speakers or local guides;

• Physical, intellectual, and emotional growth opportunities;

• Group activities centred around teamwork and connection;

• Group learning activities;

• Time for quiet and solo learning;

• Free time, where families can do their own thing;

• And free time where families can play together without structure or expectation.

Each day looks a bit different, for example one day we’ll start with a zipline adventure, enjoy some free time in the afternoon and then gather for some quiet group learning toward the end of the day.

The next day might see us playing outdoor and teamwork games at the beach and connecting that way for a while, and then after some free time and lunch we may spend the rest of the day at a museum.

Some evenings will be your own. Turn in early with your family for a quiet dinner or a movie in your cabin. Or go out on the town and find some good food and live music. Some evenings we’ll spend together, perhaps watching the kids present their learnings and reflections in creative ways—from plays to presentations, music to mathematical equations.
